BANGALORE: People would have different ideas when they hear about heat, light and water but for Ellen Kullman, CEO of DuPont, these three elements are the solutions for the challenges in business and personal, enriches one’s life and of the people around him/her.

Kullman addressed the graduating class of 2014 at the MIT where she highlighted the commonality that exists between MIT and DuPont–the craving for pushing the envelope in scientific discovery; and to transform knowledge into actions bringing about solutions influencing every layer of the society across the globe. ‘Hothouse of innovation’ is what she considered MIT as, and this is exactly what DuPont is, she added.

DuPont, as it stands today as the front-runner for science and technological innovations making significant impact in the fields as diverse as food, energy, chemicals, electronics, safety and protection is the result of the efforts of three people who studied at MIT and then went on to purchase the company.

Talking further about the legacy of MIT graduates and their contributions, Kullman said, “If the active companies founded by MIT graduates were a single nation, it would be the 11th largest economy in the world. And that doesn’t even include my favorite Stark Industries of Iron Man fame!”
