AHMEDABAD: The Army will hold an 'online recruitment rally' in Gujarat from September 29 to October 16, said colonel P Saha, commanding officer, Army Recruitment Office, Ahmedabad, here.

This is the first online recruitment rally in Gujarat as the system was introduced elsewhere in the country in June, he said.

The recruitment will be conducted for the posts of JCO (junior commissioned officer) and other ranks, Saha said.

Earlier the recruitment was conducted at open rallies, which entailed screening of documents of thousands of candidates who gathered and other scrutinies, creating management issues.

With the online system, the recruitment procedure will be easy to manage, said Saha.

Candidates can apply 60 days in advance, and the registration will close 15 days before the date of rally. For the coming round of recruitment from September 29, candidates can apply online from July 31 to September 13, Saha said.

After the application is submitted, the candidate will get a message on cell-phone and by email.

The Ministry of Defence has allowed phase one of online recruitment, under which there would be a written test (after the online submission of applications), followed by the physical test and medical examination, he said.

The phase 2 is awaiting the approval of the ministry, which is likely within a year, said Saha. As per the phase 2 plan, there would be an online Common Entrance Exam (CEE). It would be followed by physical tests and medical examination.

The objective of introducing the online system was to make the process fair and transparent, he said.
