BANGALORE: It is no secret that the economy is in transition and once thriving jobs have become a victim of emerging technology and are quickly fading away. Well-read encyclopedia salesman, savvy VCR repairman and worldly travel agent are just a few examples of jobs that either faded away or morphed into updated versions of their former selves, thanks largely to technological advancements.

The  prospects of sharing documents and other files using e-mail and cloud services have made a big dent on the courier business. In fact, sooner or later, we could see the bike delivery messenger fade away and make way for new services. According to the Bureau of labor Statistics, technology shifts are hurting the postal service, therefore mail-carrier positions are being projected to reduce by an estimated 28 percent by 2022.The other factor that haunts this job is lack of flexibility towards newer technology and that contributes to its downfall.
