These professionals oversee computer networks and ensure that they operate smoothly. They are responsible for installing, managing and supporting computer networks and other systems that keep information flowing across a medium. Network administrators maintain and implement network software and hardware, resolve network related issues, and ensure that the availability, network security and performance standards are not degraded.



This is a profession that is recession-proof by nature. This is because during tough economic times, organizations rely on these professionals to optimize existing computer systems to increase productivity and reduce costs. And during favorable economic conditions, companies generally opt to purchase new communications and networking technologies to arouse a competitive gain, which inevitable needs the services of these professionals to optimize, install and secure the new systems.



As per the BLS report, the employment opportunities in this field are expected to reach 28 percent over the next decade.



A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information science is essential to land a job in this line of work. And as per PayScale, the median wage for these professionals is in the range of 1.17 lakh to 6.17 lakh per annum.
