Newton may be renowned as one of the most influential scientist of all time by the general public, but it was mathematics where he excelled.



Newton, the person behind the laws of motion and theories on universal gravity, also formulated infinitesimal calculus, which has made a huge contribution to the field of mathematics.



Archimedes



Archimedes, often regarded as one of the leading scientist in classical antiquity, is also one of the greatest mathematicians to ever set foot on the planet earth. His use of the method of exhaustion to calculate the area under the arc of a parabola with the summation of an infinite series and coming up with a remarkably accurate approximation of pi is regarded as one of the greatest works by mankind.
