Catherine Ray (17, Alexandria, VA): 17-year-old Catherine Ray, whose love for mathematics goes far beyond the number game, is one among the list to make it to the Thiel fellows program. Catherine who developed the passion for exploring the beauty of mathematics has applied its power to unsolved problems in various fields. In December 2013, she attained her degree in Computational Physics from George Mason University and now is on a role with innovative research. Some of her latest research projects include improving closed-loop detector adaptation in neuroprosthetics, computational and mathematical modeling of quasicrystalline patterns, automating the behavioral classifications of lab-animal vocalizations and investigating prime recurrence relations in the Collatz map.
Kaushik Tiwari (19, New Delhi, India): with a call to work at the Thiel foundation, Kaushik Tiwari is one among the Indian who has made to the list of Thiel fellows program. With an interest of working to improve health care, Kaushik is working on his latest developments that will help create a technology interface that changes the hospital-patient relationship and solves the problems of transparency and efficiency.
