Contrary to the popular perception, firefighters just don’t spend all day fighting fires. They do a lot more than that, and their day is typically filled with a lot of excitement and unpredictability.

In the words of Kenty, "Firefighters may respond to a house fire, a car fire, or a commercial building fire, and it may be a small fire or a three-alarm blaze. Each situation presents different challenges based on the type and level of fire".

They respond to a number of medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes and accidents. In addition, they are also responsible for carrying out drills and teaching classes related to fire emergencies, plus lend a helping hand during various natural calamities. 

Higher secondary education or a high school diploma is enough to land an entry level job in this field.
