Don’t be too negative.

No one’s saying there aren’t plenty of things that need to be fixed in the office to complain about. But venting too much to those around you is not likely to make you an attractive employee.

David Conrad, an MBA Professor at the Augsburg program in Rochester, Minnesota says that even associating too much with negative people in the workplace has an adverse effect on your career.

"Employees must set boundaries and standards and not lower their standards to connect with negative people," he says. "Even in the face of an argument, employees must not lose their head and sink down into the negativity that surrounds them. Being critical is one thing, but being overtly and harshly negative is a career destroyer."
