5. New Zealand



This island country ranks 7th best in the world for its International Student Assessment programme. According to the UN’s Human Development Index in 2008, together with Denmark, Finland and Australia, New Zealand shared the Highest Education Index which is 0.993. The country is following a three-tier education model as primary schools, secondary school and then tertiary education at colleges or universities. 40 percent of the population said to be engaged in tertiary education which is considered as the fifth-highest in the world.

All New Zealand citizens and permanent residents are granted for free primary and secondary education which is starting from the age of 5th and ends in 19th. Attending primary and secondary education is compulsory especially for those falling in the age groups between 6th and 16th. In general, a bachelor’s degree will take three years and then a one year for an Honours degree, but it is not a must pattern for every degree course.
