3.5 Lakh Jobs Created by U.S. Firms in India during 2007-11

Bangalore: Drawing an upbeat portrait of the trade relations between U.S. and India, Jennifer McIntyre, Consul-General of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai, said that the two-pronged trade of goods and services between the two nations has swelled by four-and-a-half folds in the last decade, as reported by the Hindu.

Speaking to the members of FKCCI (Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry) as part of an initiative labeled ‘Doing Business with the U.S.’, the Consul-General of the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai pointed to statistics showing an upward swing in trade between the two nations.

In her words, “Trade between the two countries is expected to cross $100 Bn and economic ties are at an all-time high. American firms generated 3.55 lakh jobs in India between 2007 and 2011, and India is the fourth fastest growing source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the U.S.”, as reported on the Hindu.
