Google Expects People to Meet Ridiculously High Standards
Want to work at Google? Well, it’s not all about being smart, good grades, high IQs or even being successful. It’s also about meeting the ridiculously high standards, as Google doesn’t compromise on its hiring standards.
Laszlo Block said, "We don't compromise our hiring bar, ever. Because of this, job listings stay open longer at Google than you'd expect, they have to kiss a lot of frogs before finding ‘The One’. “
But Google Doesn't Care About GPAs
The search giant has spent years analyzing the kind of people who are most likely to succeed at the company, as a result it has moved away from a focus on GPAs, brand name schools, and interview brain teasers. Additionally the company also said that GPAs and test scores don't really correlate with success at the company in the present scenario.
Block exclaimed, "Academic environments are artificial environments. People who succeed there are sort of finely trained; they're conditioned to succeed in that environment." He further adds that, "It's much more interesting to solve problems where there isn't an obvious answer." "You want people who like figuring out stuff where there is no obvious answer."
