10 Indian Universities Breach The Elite 100 Club Among Emerging Nations

India has unsurprisingly fared better, with its highest-ranked institution, Panjab University slotted at joint 13th position. Indian institutions come in the top 50 places with a mesmerizing percentage of 10. It includes some of the prestigious institutions like Panjab University, the alma mater of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which leads the way, followed by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) at Kharagpur (30th), Kanpur (34th), Delhi (37th), Roorkee (37th), Guwahati (46th) and Madras (joint 47th). The 47th, 50th and 57th  positions are taken by Jadavpur University, Aligarh Muslim University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) correspondingly.



Phil opined that from the data obtained, it is vivid that Indian institutions across the board require enhancing their research deliverables — research excellence wants to get better. "There are heartening moves happening to tackle this, mainly augmented financial support and more strategically-focused funding."
