9. Cisco:
Job Cuts: 1,300
Cisco is an American multinational corporation that is headquartered in San Jose, California, United States. The company is into designing, manufacturing and selling the networking equipments. Recently, in July 2012, the company announced the job out of 1,300 employees from its different branches worldwide. The job cut was reported to be 2 percent from its total workforce globally. Erin Kim from the CNN Money website reported that, Cisco told in an e-mailed statement that the job cuts were among the continuous process of simplifying the company as well as for evaluating the economic environment. Economic Times also reported that, the job cutting decision was also taken because its sales were reduced under the intense competition.

8. Motorola:



Job Cuts: 4,000



Top search engine giant Google confirmed in the month of August 2012, that, around 20 percent i.e. around 4,0000 jobs will be cut by Motorola Mobility and it company has decided to close some of its branches around the world. The news about the job cut in Motorola Mobility was first reported on The New York Times and later it was confirmed by Google the very next day. Google also said in that statement that in spite of Motorola taking away these many employees’ jobs, it will be committed in helping these employees in this difficult transition by giving severance packages as well as by providing out placement services that helps their laid off employees to find out new job opportunities.
