48 Percent of Indian Companies Struggle to Find the Right Candidate

Bangalore: According to a recent survey conducted by Talent Shortage by staffing firm Manpower Group, nearly 48 percent of the Indian employers are struggling to get the right candidate for their company. Though this percentage is 19 percent down when compared to previous year, this 48 percent is high when it is compared to global average of 34 percent, reports Devina Sengupta, of the Economic Times.

The profiles on demand have also changed since last year. It was difficult to find right candidate for R&D, sales manager and IT staff previous year and in this year it has been difficult to find for IT staff, marketing/PR/communication staff and engineers. Surprisingly, this year it has also become difficult to find candidates for Personal assistants, call center operators as well as researchers. Doctors and laborers who made it to the list last year has been removed this year.

The key reasons for the above mentioned posts to be vacant can be because of lack of available candidates, technical competencies among those who are presently working, refusing to get transferred to another location, poor image of the job, weak soft skills and demand for a higher salary.

According to Sanjay Pandit, the Managing Director of Manpower Group said that, due to the high growth in the IT sector and increase in the social media presence of organizations, there is a high demand for IT staff and marketing/communication staff.

Sanjay also added that, employers may not be worried about leaving the important positions unfilled right now, but they will surely realize it as a problem in the future when it will be too late.
