Spectacular Summer Placements by IIM Kozhikode

There is always a question in many brilliant minds while slogging through there college courses that whether the effort will culminate in good placements or not. Well, the 22nd batch of Post Graduate Programme at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, must have 100 percent positive answer for their question, as the whole batch of 423 students got placed within 3.5 days, creating a record.



The total of 105 companies with over 27 new recruiters participated in the process with 421 students bagging the offer. This year not only upward swing in the average stipend was witnessed but also a lot of students where offered the niche roles. Some of the new recruiters included Flipkart, Siemens, Uber, ABInBev, AstraZeneca, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Edelweiss GWAM. Accenture Strategy, Amazon, Deloitte USI, Goldman Sachs, Pidilite, Uber, and Wipro were some the top recruiters extending 81 offers to approximately 20 percent of the batch in total.



IIM Kozhikode repeated history by having highest intake of 40 percent percent of the batch being placed in Sales and Marketing, 13 percent getting offers from consulting companies, 16 percent  got placed in financial services companies in corporate finance, investment banking, private wealth, risk advisory services, global investment research and corporate treasury.



21 percent increase in average stipend and 43 percent increase in median stipend was witnessed. 27 students got the highest stipend of 3 lakhs, three times the figure in the last year. A massive increase by 43 percent in median stipend which stood at INR 2 lakhs for the period of internship was found this season.



Prof. Shovan Chowdhury, Chairperson, Placements at IIM Kozhikode, says “The most remarkable achievement in the summer placements of IIMK this year is that the median stipend is far ahead of the mean. It means more than 50 percent of the students will earn more than the mean stipend and better stipend comes with better roles. The team has been able to raise the bar by not only inviting many new recruiters, or existing recruiters with new roles but also by completing the placements process in a record 3.5 days. I would also like to thank the recruiters for putting immense faith, trust and confidence in the talent of our students.”
