Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include carrying out and analyzing RFPs, RFQs and RFI, negotiating rates with suppliers, maintaining relationships with both internal and external key stake holders, and managing the Supplier relationship to a level consistent with IBM’s initiatives, addressing stakeholder issues and executing Sourcing strategies as set out by the Country Procurement team.

The candidate should have good knowledge and experience of the core procurement skills in addition to commodity specific knowledge.


Understand and Communicate Client Requirements- The position may be required to communicate directly with external clients, mainly for requirements outside of core supplier capabilities.
The position should be capable of satisfying those requirements through previous sources identified or new sources as required.


Key objective – Responsible for achieving Client Sat targets

Perform Value Add Analysis/Source Selection - Perform Source Selection and present Fair Value analysis using accepted value determination techniques.
Evaluate and provide team analysis.


Understand and Apply IBM Agreements (T and C’s) / Manage Contracts- The position will be required to understand IBM contracts and develop unique terms and conditions for those suppliers agreements who require changes.
Manage the contracts for key Suppliers.


Achieve the Targets, Measurements and TATs as required- as defined by the Councils and support the implementation of the Commodity specific Strategy.

Key objective – Achieving Procurement Contribution & Cost Take Out targets

Business Controls- Responsible to meet Business Controls objectives of procurement, including ensuring ongoing audit readiness and bluebook compliance.


Position may also require assisting Council members in executing Commodity strategies.
Strong interface with Council team members and Procurement initiative focal points will be required, so ability to work well in a team environment is a must.


The following skills/experience required.



Applied knowledge of procurement process (Blue Book), Procurement tools and applications

Previous experience of processing transactions with SLAs, TAT.

Experience of working with cross functional teams.


Knowledge of Services (BS/CWF) commodity at a tactical level (desired).

Any previous Sourcing experience will be a plus point.
(RFP, RFI, conducting bids, supplier negotiations, contract management)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Will have regular contact with clients and suppliers.


Good client management and teaming skills

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.


Ability to work under pressure and tight schedules

Need to be a very good Team player

Microsoft Excel, SRM End-User proficiency
