THE POSITION


The Business Development Associate will be responsible for growing the company’s portfolio companies by analyzing new business opportunities, researching key regulatory, technological, and market success factors, building sourcing channels and development plans. The two major responsibilities of this individual will be:

1. Market Research and Business Development:
By both primary and secondary research, develop intelligence on key market drivers, competitive environment, regulatory issues and sources of operating leverage. Critical to this mix will also be the resourcefulness required to enhance the current deal/opportunity pipeline by interacting with business brokers, commercial and investment bankers, and promoters/developers/entrepreneurs.

2. New Business Implementation:
Since Chiasma’s operating approach requires incubating new businesses, we expect that the Business Development Associate will play a key role in the start-up of new businesses and leading to scale-building activities related to businesses that the group launches. This will involve:
· Project management during start-up and critical scale-up activities
· Evaluation of acquisitions, commercial leasing, and development options
· Assisting with technology platforms, recruiting, and other corporate administration
· Sales and customer acquisition, growth and retention


QUALIFICATIONS


The ideal candidate would have prior experience in project finance/venture capital/corporate development. S/he must have a minimum 5 year performance record of managing “intangibles” and prior experience with administrative, research, analytical, and project management functions.

As important as solid research and management skills is the ability to function in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and have a passion for building enduring relationships. S/he must have the ability to conceptualize strategy, present data driven information with confidence, and communicate ideas and vision concisely and convincingly. S/he will be comfortable performing as a high energy “doer” while evolving the managerial aspects of the role.

The ideal candidate must be able to “think on their feet” and be proactive in their approach to growing the research department by instituting disciplined processes. The ideal candidate
will also have a record as a strong team player, collaborating across functions. Desire to operate in start-up situations is essential. Location: New Delhi area and commitment to spending significant time with on research and development travel in India and overseas.

The position will be compensated with a competitive package of wages and benefits and also be eligible for stock options in portfolio companies.
