Willingness to learn is the most striking feature in a candidate. Once a candidate with six years of experience in various organizations came for an interview. What I liked in him was his way of presentation and willingness to learn. He was extremely open about his shortcomings and displayed a right mindset to improve himself. We have appointed him as Senior Software Engineer and today he is an highly rated engineer in our organization.
Most techies think the HR interview is only for salary negotiation, but that is not true. Salary is just a part of the interview and is not the whole issue of discussion. Often I come across candidates with 8/10 score in technical round, performing poorly in the HR round. Candidates must understand, apart from technical knowledge, one should focus on personal aspects such as communication skills, ability to grasp information, ability to play multiple roles and performance as a team member
